Cover an Oversized Cutout Around a Flush-Mounted Junction Box

This 6-inch oops plate—also called a trim ring or goof ring—covers the exposed wall or ceiling around a junction-box opening that was cut too large. It creates a cleaner finished appearance behind the installed light or camera fixture.

🌟 Why Choose This Oops Plate?

  • Covers an oversized or uneven cutout around a flush-mounted junction box
  • Two mounting slots retain the plate at the junction box
  • White and black options coordinate with common fixture finishes
  • Designed to sit behind common 4-inch and 5-inch fixture bases

📐 Fit and Dimensions

  • Confirmed box types: flush-mounted pancake, octagonal, and PVC junction boxes
  • Outside diameter: 150 mm (5.9 in)
  • Center opening: 82 mm (3.2 in)
  • Thickness: 2 mm (0.07 in)

Not for surface-mounted round junction boxes. The wall or ceiling opening must be smaller than the plate's 150 mm outside diameter and leave enough overlap to hide the cut edge. A full 6-inch opening will not be concealed.

📦 In The Box

  • One 6-inch oops plate / trim ring in the selected color

🛠️ Installation

  1. Confirm that the junction box is flush-mounted and that the cutout is small enough for the plate to overlap the finished surface.
  2. Position the plate over the box and engage its two mounting slots with the junction-box mounting screws.
  3. Install the fixture according to its manufacturer's instructions, with the fixture base centered over the 82 mm opening.

⚠️ Before You Order

  • This is a decorative oops plate only. It does not seal the opening or provide structural support.
  • Verify that your fixture base fully covers the 82 mm (3.2 in) center opening.
